Month 33

Just a quick update on my progress of TSW, PW and MW.

It has been pretty good. I am happy with how I am.
My skin can still be unstable sometimes, but it no longer hinders my life.

Apparently, on the way to healing, some strange things happen to your skin.
For me, they are seborrheic dermatitis and heat-induced hives.  Seborrheic dermatitis started coming up since early this year, and hives since a couple of months ago.  But both are not severe, so I let them be. After the horrible stage of TSW & PW,  it should be easy to handle these, right? Besides, I take them as positive signs rather than negative ones.

You can see seborrheic dermatitis on the side of my nose and hives around my cheek.

Heat-induced hives around my eye.
They usually disappear after a couple of hours.

The latest pic of me (literally took a few seconds ago, wearing absolutely no makeups).

That's my report for now.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who signed Atopic's petition. It has reached 10,000 petitions and it's been handed to Japanese Dermatology Association this week. They are still collecting the petition (the more, the better!) if you haven't signed yet. Thank you very much for showing your support and taking your time.

What I believe we need is one example of a country where it acknowledges TSA and supports TSW.  If a precedent is set, other countries would consider the option more positively and seriously.

It has been more than 6 years since I first withdrew from TS and Protopic. I feel I have been handling my withdrawals rather clumsily. Over the last few months, my focus shifted to overcoming TSW emotionally (rather than physically).  I'm inspired by my friends, TSW bloggers and readers of my blog.

  1. Hi Tommy, thanks for the update. It's great to hear the atopic petition was so successful too.

This TSW is a slow journey but we see light at the end of the tunnel. X

  3. Thanks for sharing. In what ways have you been exploring overcoming TSW emotionally? I, too, think this is the crucial part of my healing.

    1. Hi Joann, thanks for your comment. Sorry for my late response. I think after your skin sees a bit of improvement, it's much easier to deal with it emotionally. I'm probably one of the worst when it comes to dealing with TSW emotionally, as I realise that some people can stay strong through the withdrawal but I was a total mess. I think it's crucial that you get enough sleep, or take a nap during the day if necessary. And for me reading books and exercising helped me to take my attention away from TSW. It was about how to distract myself from TSW until it sees improvement. x

  4. Hey, thanks for the posts :) and gj with he petition. I suffer from the seb derm too and started using steroids a little while ago to treat it, and am now in the withdrawal process (month17). I have a few questions though; how is your skin now? Do you still get symptoms from seb dermatitis? Or how often, if you do get symptoms?

    1. Hi Alex, as you can see in my latest post I'm doing well thanks! I started using a soap as recommended by Dr. Sato since March (until then I didn't use it for a while). I still get some seb derm - it's been ongoing for about a year - but I think that it's getting better. How are you doing on month 17? x
